haha, no money. they are usually my good friends who don't have a brother or boyfriend to help them. or sometimes they are guys who aren't that tech-savvy. the cuter they are, the harder it is for me to say no....
I usually get called for repairing something when everything is broken, I'd love to fix minor issues but usually it involves a massive, several hour long operations..
i do enjoy helping people with computer problems and agree with R2 that minor issues are fine but it can get frustrating when you spend your whole saturday afternoon working on something that needs to be trashed anyway. well R2 at least you are getting paid for it :) i usually get food for it or something...
I usually get food too if I'm on a housecall, but I usually prefer taking the crap with me home so I can do my stuff in peace. Like this crap I'm fixing now, I started on it yesterday and been doing it the whole day. Imagine that work in someone elses place..
@Romek: Agree on mental block. See it all the time. Question is: how to help someone break through it? Is there anything we geeks can do? Does mental block have something to do with self-esteem?

Can someone come and fix my washing machine? Actually just install. You could also hang a mirror on my wall and install a lamp.

@Romek - I agree. What is it about computer users who don't think they can learn?

I'm the exact opposite regarding windows vs mac/unix users. I just have to say no to something I have no clue of..
